About SightShift
Every leadership problem is an identity problem.
SightShift is the leadership development partner for founders and executives who refuse to trade culture for growth. We quantify the insecurity that drives leadership under pressure, pinpoint the culture risk it creates, and deliver a repeatable system to change it at the root. Where others assess personality or teach generic management skills, we measure what happens at the root of a leader's identity under stress, and transform it.
We have found the one thing every struggling team, stalled company, and burned-out leader has in common. And we can measure it. Under pressure, the real driver of a leader's decisions is rarely strategy or skill. It is identity, and the fear underneath it.
That is why we say every business problem is a culture problem, every culture problem is a leadership problem, and every leadership problem is an identity problem. Broken culture is a symptom. Poor leadership is the cause. At the root of poor leadership is an identity shaped by insecurity. Fix the root, and the fruit takes care of itself.
We made the root measurable.
The Identity Fear Quotient® (IFQ®) is the only leadership assessment that quantifies how insecurity shapes leadership under pressure. In four questions and about fifteen minutes, it surfaces whether a leader defaults to proving or hiding, names the specific fear driving it, and shows the leader they are when that fear is not in the driver's seat. It is the foundation under everything we build, from executive coaching to whole-team culture work.
What we believe.
- The enemy is insecurity, not the leader. Everyone has insecurities. The danger is the ones that go unexamined and quietly run the decisions. We throw rocks at the insecurity, never the person. The leaders we serve are heroes who haven't yet seen the blind spot.
- The point of leadership is to change lives. If leadership isn't changing people's lives, what is it for? We are for the leader who wants to use their business as a vehicle for lasting impact, not status.
- Culture is a direction, not a destination. Left unattended, culture always drifts. Drift is the slow, silent erosion of vision and connection that leaders don't notice until a crisis forces them to. We help leaders see the drift before it becomes a disaster.
- We are openly faith-driven. Our frameworks draw on ancient wisdom, faith, hope, and love, translated into practical leadership. We don't sell a Christian message; we develop leaders, and that work is rooted in that wisdom. It's great leadership development, and it's biblically rooted, never the other way around.
Dr. Chris McAlister
Chris founded SightShift in Columbus, Ohio, as an author, speaker, and leadership coach. Across more than 25 years of developing leaders, including at Universal Studios, Chase, and Nationwide, he kept meeting the same root cause behind every struggling team, stalled organization, and burned-out leader: insecurity driving the decisions. The leaders weren't failing for lack of strategy or skill. Their unexamined fears were hijacking their actions, reactions, and relationships, especially under stress.
That insight became the IFQ®, and the name SightShift captures what happens when a leader does the work: they see themselves, their team, and their culture differently. Chris is the author of three books, The 3% Shift: The Human Edge in the Age of AI, Make Culture Your Edge, and Figure That Shift Out, and hosts the SightShift Podcast, where he works these ideas out loud every week.
